Tuition fees 2024/2025

Studying at Lancaster University Leipzig means you must pay an annual tuition fee. This fee covers the costs associated with teaching, examinations, assessment and graduation.

Course fees are dependent on which degree programme you pursue and your country of origin.

For undergraduate students Lancaster University Leipzig has two different types of tuition fee (see table below).

Additional costs

Upon arrival in Germany, all students are required to:

  • pay for their course materials, e.g. books, notepads
  • be covered by a valid public or private health insurance. The cost per month is up to €120 (depending on the insurance provider)
  • purchase the local transportation ticket, also known as travel pass (MDV) which provides travel on busses, trams, S-Bahn and selected trains in Leipzig and region

Annual ticket costs for the travel pass is:

  • January-September: €322,50*
  • October-September: €430*

During orientation week you will receive a student ID card which will also be your travel pass. The compulsory amount of €322,50 or €430 will be invoiced by Lancaster University Leipzig along with the second half of your tuition fees in week 8 of classes. It is mandatory to have a local transportation ticket and it is not possible to opt out.
