Lancaster University Leipzig Welcomes Its First Students
January 27, 2020
Welcome to our first students!
Right before Great Britain is leaving the European Union, the first students have started their studies at Lancaster University Leipzig. We are thus implementing the plan to open our newest location in Germany and live up to our reputation as 'International University of the Year 2020' (The Times and The Sunday Times).
This first student cohort completes an exciting international foundation programme which is their pathway into the bachelor's degree programs. The students come from Europe, Asia and Africa and are looking forward to the courses taking place entirely in the English language.
"A warm welcome to our first students who will be studying at Lancaster University Leipzig, Lancaster University's first campus in mainland Europe. Lancaster has always considered itself truly international and this outlook influences our world-class research and teaching, enriches our students' experience and extends our community with global staff and alumni from 100 different countries.' Professor Steve Bradley, Acting Vice-Chancellor, Lancaster University
In September 2020, Lancaster University will be expanding its range of degree programmes in Leipzig with a total of four Bachelor courses in management (accounting & finance, business management) and IT (computer science, software engineering). The course content in Leipzig is identical to the programmes offered on the Lancaster campus, and graduates receive a British degree after successfully completing their studies.
"We are very proud to give students from all over the world the opportunity to obtain a British degree here in Leipzig. This is also an enrichment for the city and a great opportunity for the local economy to recruit local international staff" says Dr. Elisabeth Grindel-Denby, campus director in Leipzig.
We wish all foundation students good luck with their studies and a pleasant arrival in Leipzig! Are you also interested in studying at Lancaster University Leipzig?
